MISSION STATEMENT:
"Plan, organize and train to respond to any tragedy or disaster"
DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY TEAM
OF MICHIGAN
D.A.R.T was formed in early 1989, after the disaster of Northwest Flight #255 confirmed that preparation, and the ability to work together, can overcome the most devastating disasters. D.A.R.T. is not affiliated with any one department. It was organized to help all departments, large or small.
D.A.R.T. is made up of Police Officers, Identification/Evidence Technicians, Medical Examiners, Forensic Pathologists, Forensic Dentists and others. D.A.R.T.'s main function is to provide assistance to local jurisdictions requesting our aid during a disaster in the following areas:
1. Disaster Site Documentation
2. Body Recovery and Documentation
3. Property Recovery and Documentation
4. Assistance in Victim Identification
D.A.R.T. can be called to assist in emergencies including but not limited to aircraft disasters, ground transportation disasters, severe weather disasters and tragedies that demand additional assistance where multiple deaths have occurred.
We are a non-profit organization. State, county and local departments help by allowing their personnel to participate whether it is a training function or an actual disaster.
